• At a meeting attended by more than 100 members of the Surrey and South Middlesex area of the FTA on Wednesday, Mr. W. J. Meadows, divisional executive officer, warned own-account operators against "jumping into the hire and reward business".
"Beware of the pitfalls," he said: "it is very easy to lose the use of a vehicle for two or three days because of difficulties in offloading."
