• A Felton, Somerset, transport owner was told in Bristol last Friday that it was in his interest to co-operate with MoT Inspectors.
Mr. Thomas R. Williams, managing director of Freightline Transport Ltd., Felton, was appearing before the Western LA, Mr. J. R. C. Samuel-Gibbon, at a Section 178 inquiry.
The LA said the matter arose out of certain convictions, but he added that there were other matters -outstanding" in which he claimed his traffic examiners had been trying to investigate under great difficulty.
Mr. Williams: "I don't know anything about any difficulty".
The LA referred to an interview Mr. Williams had with a traffic examiner.
Another Ministry official had made appointments to see Mr. Williams on two occasions but he failed to attend, said the LA.
"I want you to know that my enforcement officers should not be hampered and obstructed." said Mr. Samuel-Gibbon.
Mr. Williams gave an undertaking to co-operate.
The case was adjourned.
