• The road haulage industry should introduce a single method for collating accident data to help firms reduce accident levels, according to road haulage safety campaign Brake, The move follows the publication of a report, Commercial Vehicle Accident Benchmarking Study, which reveals that many companies are unaware of the scale of their accidents because they are not recording them properly.
Research from 18 firms, responsible for 50,000 vehicles, found that some operators are six times more likely to be involved in an accident than others and less than one in five record accident blackspots.
