• I Tayling Island roofing contractors Gable (UK) Holdings, which was said to use its one vehicle as a "big wheelbarrow", was given a serious warning about maintenance standards at a Bristol disciplinary inquiry.
Two-week suspension
• The two-vehicle licence held by Cardiff-based Aldino Frassinelli has been suspended for two weeks by South Wales TC John Mervyn Pugh. Frassinelli was warned that unless both vehicles passed fresh MoT tests within that time, he could lose his licence.
Firm loses licence
• Crossan Plant Hire, of Cleland, Motherwell has had its licence revoked by Scottish Traffic Commissioner Michael Betts. This followed the firm's unexplained failure to attend two public inquiries.
New centre approved
• A bid for a new operating centre for three vehicles at Youlgreave, near Bakewell in Derbyshire, by Ashmore Haulage, has been successful despite opposition. The application was granted by North Western DTC Alan Cattell at a Bakewell public inquiry
Loan must be paid
MI The owners of the Flimby haulier Victor Thompson's, which collapsed last year with large debts, have been ordered to pay back part of a L45,000 loan by Judge Robert Brown at Whitehaven County Court.
