guidelines released"( CM17-23 Oct). Regarding the comments on load restraint, I wonder where some of these operators have been living, and certainly the manufacturer.
Construction and Use Regulation 100 clearly states: "All loads will be secured other than by their own weight." This includes curtainsiders/tilts and flatbeds with sides.
Curtainsiders are not exempt from this regulation and would certainly depend on the type of load inside the curtains: breaking strain on any load restraint equipment must be of the right type.
The round timber lorry you pictured would need to strap the load and not just rely on the pins. There have been at least three accidents in the past two years with logging vehicles not being strapped in the correct manner.
