TWO OPERATORS sharing a base in County Durham who had their licences revoked after paraffin was found in their trucks' fuel tanks can operate normally pending the hearing of appeals to the Transport Tribunal (CM 1 January).
Birtley-based John James McCaffrey,trading as Montana Freight Services, has a licence for six vehicles and six trailers:Sylvia Pallas, trading as PallasTransport, has a licence for 16 vehicles and six trailers. North Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney directed that the revocation orders should not take effect until after the appeals had been heard. The revocation orders followed a raid ox Birtley premises last February by Custon Excise where three of the four vehicles o ated by Montana Freight Services and 100 13 vehicles operated by Pallas Transport found to contain significant amounts of par. in their fuel tanks.
