SEVERAL ROAD transport industry figures have received recognition in the New Year Honours List.
Andy Boyle (pictured), MD at ABE (Ledbury), and former chairman of the Road Haulage Association (RHA), has been appointed OBE for services to the transport industry. Boyle tells CM: “I am surprised but also delighted and hugely honoured. During my threeyear chairmanship of the RHA, I was fortunate to have the support of staff who helped keep the business running. This is a result for them and the whole of the haulage industry, as well as recognition that we are alive and kicking.” Clive Warcup, boss of Clive Warcup Transport, based in Garton-onthe-Wolds, East Yorks, is appointed MBE for services to the haulage industry and for his charitable work.
Warcup, who has been involved with the RHA for more than 30 years at national and local level, runs the business with his wife, while his son and daughter are also involved.
He says: “I am very pleased and my family is very proud. A lot has happened in the industry since I started up as a driver with one vehicle in 1970, to the point where we now operate 30 vehicles.” William Dennison, chief executive of Dennison Commercials, has been appointed OBE for services to economic development and the community in Northern Ireland.
