STOBART GROUP is reducing the guaranteed hours of its drivers by 10% in an effort to stem further redundancies at the irm.
Following the announcements of redundancies at its Goole, East Yorkshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Barlborough, Derbyshire, depots and the closure of its Leeds centre, the company says it needs to take even further action.
“We proposed to reduce the guaranteed hours of drivers in the UK ambient business from 50 to 45 per week, and this was overwhelmingly supported by a clear majority of drivers’ reps who were strongly in favour of exploring proposals to limit further redundancies,” says a spokesman.
“The proposal has been adopted and [commenced] on 1 January for nine weeks, after which the drivers will revert back to their normal hours.”
