dice hunt for Little's killer
• by Jennifer Ball Surrey police are chasing a new lead in the hunt for the killer of truck driver Michael Little.
Little, of Hornchurch in Essex, died from heart failure after an object was thrown through his windscreen from a footbridge over the M3 at Camberley, Surrey during the early hours of 21 March ( CM 27 Mar-02 Apr).
Following an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme, Surrey police have now revealed that on the same night an attempt was made to steal a Renautt Clio parked in a drive on Brackendale Road, Camberley.
The proximity of this to the footbridge and the timing of both incidents has led detectives to believe they might be connected.
A DNA profile has been obtained from blood found on the Renault and, over the last month, Surrey police have carried out a screening of targeted men in the local area.
DCI Graham Hill, who is leading the investigation, says: 'The most direct route between the scene of the attempted car theft and footbridge would have taken the offender(s) past the building site where the brick used to kill Mr Little was taken from.
"We are therefore looking at the likelihood that the same person or people were involved in both incidents. "We are appealing for anyone with information to contact us. This was a despicable crime and we are determined to find whoever is responsible."
Little's former employer Ford has offered a £25,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for his murder.
