He said that the operator's licenc qualified a vehicle to be used on the roac His comments were made during a hearin under Section 69 concerning W. Thoma and Co (Transport) Ltd, haulag contractors, of Mossbay Road, Working ton.
A traffic examiner, Mr John Cant, sai that in December 1971 when he carried ou an inspection the firm had four vehicles o an operator's licence. It was found thE there were some defects in maintenance an that maintenance records were nc adequate.
An immediate prohibition was placed o one vehicle and a delayed prohibition o another.
Mr Frank Thomas, the managin director, admitted at the inquiry that th two other vehicles which he used for sit work would not be suitable to go on th road.
