• A major road scheme at the junction of the North Circular (A406), Al, and Regents Park Road (A598) in central London will prevent about 430 injuries over the next 30 years and save lives says Movement for London Secretary, Jeremy Hawksley.
Hawksley is supporting the Department of Transport's proposal to build a £50 million cut-and-cover tunnel to carry the A406 traffic between Falloden Way and Great North Way. The Al will use road space on top of the tunnel. By separating Al and A406 vehicles, and by providing better facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, Hawksley reckons that the accident rate will fall from 0.79 personal-injury accidents (PIA) per million vehicle kilometres (MVKM) to just 0.19 PIA/MVKM.
