• Small haulage firms might not survive the effects of European deregulation after 1992, according to a study made by Volvo, from the viewpoint of a manufacturer outside the European Community.
"Taking Belgium as an example, experts predict that the disappearance of national trade barriers will mean that all small hauliers with one to four trucks will have to take on contract work. The number of firms with over 20 trucks will, increase in order to meet industry's needs," says the Swedish manufacturer.
