If you want more space and storage, and you have deeper pockets, then the FH Globetrotter XL is the truck for you. The CM team was impressed with the mattress and passenger swivel seat, as well as the storage, and the truck also proved quieter in the noise test. Only the slide-in table and the thin curtains let it down, but CM understood why many operators spend £3,500 to upgrade to XL versions of the Globetrotter on the FH.
What also stood out is how the entire cabin product range across both FM and FH enjoy significant product synergy, and it’s best exemplified by the fact you can order a Globetrotter for both tractors.
An 18% cab floor height difference separates the two cabs, while the majority of the other differences between the two Globetrotter cabs are subtle. Above the bunk, the head height in the FH is 22% greater than the FM.
The bottom bunk in the FM Globetrotter LXL has a split width with 590mm for the head and feet to relax in, while expanding to 710mm across the middle. The bunk in the FH is also split, between 710mm and 770mm, which is 60mm wider. It is also 20mm thicker.
We liked the space the FM Globetrotter LXL offered, the comfort of the bottom bunk and the pull-out drawer. Like all mass-market products, the height of the engine cover and cross-cab access in the LXL aren’t great, but they’re not detrimental to the overall experience.
