PALLET NETWORKS Pall-Ex and Palletforce have both invested in new IT systems to improve eficiency and functionality for members.
Pall-Ex has spent a seven-igure sum on Twine (Transport and Warehouse Information Network Environment), a cloud-based system that allows members and customers alike to manage their own shipments as well as Pall-Ex consignments.
The web-based system can be accessed remotely and contains a host of features, including routeing of consignments, the ability to print EU compatible documentation, document and barcode scanning, as well as full track and trace.
Meanwhile, rival network Palletforce, which has its main hub in Burton-upon-Trent, has spent £1m on its IT infrastructure, rolling out its Alliance system to members. A year in the making and deployment, Alliance provides full visibility of customers’ freight from collection to delivery, including online POD information.
