• A Dublin-based car transport firm has been fined a total of £13,500 for allowing its employees to break drivers hours regulations.

The fines were imposed for what the judge said were very serious breaches of driver safety regulations.

The company pleaded guilty to a total of 15 breaches of EC maximum driving hours regulations.

The company hauls cars on transporters from Dublin Docks through the

city to a huge yard on the western outskirts of Dublin for pre-delivery inspection and preparation.

Drivers of the long-established transport firm then deliver the sales-ready cars to motor dealers' showrooms throughout the country.
