THE BOSS OF Denby Transport believes the removal of six roundabouts along a 60-mile stretch of the Al has strengthened the case for trials of longer heavier vehicles (LHVs) in the UK.

Last year, the Department for Transport (DfT) ruled out the possibility of UK trials of Denby's double-trailer LHV.
Instead, officials are investigating the potential effects of longer semi-trailers (up to 2.05m longer), with no increase in the maximum weight limit of 44 tonnes.
Denby adds: "Better roads make it easier for the 25.25m trailer to operate with smoother turns and fewer stops along the way. We will continue to put our argument to the government that this is the best option for LHVs."
Denby says the improved junctions on the Al in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire will ease congestion and cut journey times.
