A HAULAGE BOSS in Widnes has described proposals to impose a toll on the existing RuncornWidnes bridge and the new Mersey crossing located just to the east of it, and is due to open in 2014, as "very unfair': Mark Haslam, tanker division
managing director at Suttons Group. says: "Most lorries in the area need to get onto the Mh, but our competitors on the Runcorn side will not have to pay a thing under the plans — that seems very unfair."
Steve Nicholson, Mersey Gateway project director, says his Organisation understands the concerns some people have over toll levels, but that the scheme will bring "much-improved journey and transport reliability to this strategic river crossing."
