• A demountable caravan body that could take the form of a site caravan or mobile office was one of the highlights of a ,100-vehicle display of commercial vehicles last week by Prestage Ltd to mark the opening of the company's truck centre at Station Road, Coleshill, Warks. Built by ICP Sales and Export Ltd of Bracldey, a Suntrekker four-berth caravan body was shown by B. Walker and Son Ltd of Watford mounted on a Bedford CF 25cwt pick-up with a seven-man crew cab. It is demounted by built-in screw-type jacks and could be mounted on the company's municipal pick-up if required.
A growing interest in demountable bodies was reported by Prestage, and displays also included Penman UBD and Arlington demountables. Shown by Enco (Engineering Castings) Ltd of West Bromwich on a Bedford CF 35cwt chassis, a Penman UBD Transwop 565 cu ft Luton body has a payload capacity of three ions and weighs 64 cwt. It is a type that is being increasingly used by operators in the Midlands in conjunction with a drop-sided demountable, body lift being provided by manuallyoperated hydraulic jacks. Features include a stiffened sub-frame of aluminium sections.
