ic engine, LUCAS Industries chairman Sir Bernard Scott told the Garage Equipment Association that the future of road transport still lies with the internal combustion engine — but it will he changed with the introduction of new equipment.
He also foresaw the introduction of synthetic fuels and a new hybrid fuel between petrol and diesel.
Sir Bernard said that there is going to be a revolution ir equipment caused by the in troduction of microprocessors which will bring a whole new approach to vehicle servicing.
He warned that Britain depended on what it could sell in world markets for its survival and he said that the motor industry must use its decline as a spur to greater efforts.
" He urged that the vehicles produced should be technically compatible with the needs of the world markets.
