AN EAST YORKSHIRE haulage firm has won a contract with one of the country's leading producers of calcium carbonate.
Howden-bascd HB Holt will jointly handle the distribution for Omya UK along with Cambridgeshire operator Turners (Soham).
Holt will manage the distribution of bagged calcium carbonate. used in a large number of industries, from Omya's site at Melton near Hull.
The work will involve the transport of up to nine loads a day; smaller quantities will go through the Palletforce network, of which Holt is a member.
Turners will handle the bulk powder side of the operation.
Managing director Eddie Holt is delighted with the contract win and says the company will be taking on another three vehicles as a result: two Volvo FHs and a Volvo FM rigid. "We only look down one route when choosing new trucks and that's Volvo," he adds."Others fail to give backup or lose out on residual value."
