One of the more intriguing developments to emerge from the Hanover show was that Volvo truck dealers in some European territories will be offering a Nissan-sourced light CV range alongside the Volvo medium and heavy-duty products.
Selected dealers will function not merely as sales outlets; they will also offer aftersales and maintenance support.
The initial roll-out will take place in Germany, followed soon afterwards by the UK. But Spain, Italy and France, where Nissan already has a consolidated dealer network for the sale and service of its CVs, will not be included.
Participating dealers will dedicate separate areas of their premises to the two marques, whose separate identities will be carefully preserved.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding struck earlier this year between Nissan and Renault Trucks, Renault will distribute Nissan's light-duty truck range through its truck dealer network as a complement to the Master and Mascott.
