The body is of composite construction, the timber framing incorporating steel transverse members running round the entire body. Additional strength is conferred on the structure by building the steel anklesection seat frames into the structure. The roof is framed and panelled in light alloy.
Problems of luggage accommodation associated with the rear-engined layout are overcome in the half-deck design by the arrangement of lockers underneath the seats and between the backs of opposing pairs of seats. With a coach load of 50 passengers this arrangement is convenient, because passengers can see that their luggage is placed under or behind their seats, instead of being mixed up with all the other luggage in a main locker.
Experience has shown that the public appreciates the sociable atmosphere of the half-deck seating arrangement. The re-arrangement of the entrance door and front canopy • has made it possible to improve the appearance of the halfdecker so that it looks little different from a conventional vehicle.
