• Rail-freight firm DVS says plans to shut parts of the West Coast Main Line will not affect its services. A 40-mile stretch of the line from Coleich in Staffordshire to Cheadle Hulme, Just south of Stockport will be closed for four months next summer in a bid to speed up an upgrade of the line.
A spokesman for EVIS says that this is not a key route for its services and it will still be able to access its terminals.
