QPECIALLY equipped coaches, on L) which three-course meals will be served, are ready to go into operation with the Ribble; Standerwick and Scout fleets. The 50-seat double-decker Gay Hostess coaches already provide a refreshment service on the express routes from Lancashire to London, Scotland, and in some instances the Lake District. These facilities will continue whilst new full-catering will he available on certain. public excursions and for private party journeys, Mr. H. Bottomley, general manager of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., said at a demonstration on Tuesday that when the company had experience of serving full meals they would consider the possibility of extending coach catering, perhaps even into the field of hot meals.
Lunch, consisting of hot soup, a cold main course and sweet, with coffee to follow, will cost 6s. 6d.-8s. Afternoon tea will cost .3s. Mr. Bottomley said they already served afternoon tea on the Motorway and in. the future planned to serve meals on the move. On the new diner coaches a stop is made so that passengers may eat in comfort without leaving their seats.
Meals are prepacked on white plastics trays, complete' with cutlery and condiments, enclosed in a polythene envelope.
