FOLLOWING a transport debate (The Commercial Motor, March 23), the European Parliamentary Assembly in Strasbourg last week passed ,a resolution urging standardization of traffic rules within the European Common Market. The resolution will be passed on to the European Community's Council of Ministers. It foresees a unified road traffic code, uniform construction and use regulations for vehicles, joint actions to prevent accidents and to promote traffic education and the fixing of driving and rest times for goods vehicle drivers. • the debate, Herr Lambert Schaus (Luxembourg) foresaw difficulties for such a plan due to the fact that member Governments of the Common Market bloc preferred discussions on the problem within the framework of the Conference of European Ministers of Transport.
