• Sales at Cummins Engines last year rose 20% to $3.3 billion (21. 94 billion). Continuing restructuring costs and intense price competition, however, resulted in a net loss of $63.4 million (g37.2 million), but Cummins predicts "1989 should be a much improved year." The company claims to have retained a 26% share of the UK market for heavy-duty truck engines, giving it market leadership.
