• A new survey of top peoples' pay has listed former Central Transport Rentals chief executive Robert Montague as among the highest paid directors in Britain—before he was
declared bankrupt in December. Montague is said to have earned .2946,000 in the year to last April, including £250,000 in bonuses and £33,000 in benefits, He just made it into the top 20 in a table of the 150 highest earning directors compiled in the Price Waterhouse Corporate Register. No other director From road transport companies listed on the Stock Exchange was mentioned in the table. Montague was thought to have debts totalling more than £30m when he resigned from High Wycornbe-based CTR, formerly Tiphook.
