TELEMATICS SUPPLIER Causeway says a majority of fonner GlobalLive customers are paying the extra charges that have been introduced for them to continue to make use of the telematics package.
Causeway paid £120,000 to acquire the trade and assets of GlobalLive in May after the firm ran into cash flow problems. When operators first signed up to use the telematics system from GlobalLive, they entered into leasing deals that were scheduled to last between four and five years Causeway initially continued the existing service on a goodwill basis. However, it then introduced extra charges to install replacement hardware and a charge to ensure continuity of connectivity, in order to make the service "commercially viable':
A former customer says it decided not to pay the extra charge, but Neil Rushworth, operations director at Bradford-based Expect Distribution, says: "We've agreed to a continuation of service, we are happy with the system. what choice did we have but to pay?
Peter Nagle, Causeway chairman, says the firm now has around 230 customers for the former GlobalLive product, down from the original number of 340.
