4 (-IV ER 150 flameproof fluorescent pitlighting fittings are to be installed at War Office vehicle-inspection depots. Sixteen are already in use at the Peltham depot. Manufactured by Siemens Electric Lamps and Supplies, Ltd„ 38-39 Upper Thames Street, London, E.C.4, the equipment has the Buxton Certificate for Group 2.B gases and is approved by the War Office.
The unit consists of a 4-ft. long 40-w. fluorescent tubular lamp enclosed in a case of cast aluminium alloy. It is fitted with a front cover and a recessed window of *-in. armour-plate glass, retained by a frame of cadmium-plated mild steel, and sealing is effected with a special gas-proof cement.
To obviate glare, the top section of the Birma'bright reflector is finished in white faCquer and the lower is anodized clear. Reflector Mounting and shape ensure a throw of light upwards.
