THE FREIGHT TRANSPORT Association (FTA) has appointed Lane Group managing director Rebecca Jenkins as one of two new vice-presidents to support president John Russell.
Jenkins has been a member of the FTA's National Executive Board since 2003 and is also a board member of Skills for Logistics, the transport sector's skills council. Her fellow vice-president is Andy Haines, head of logistics at Tate & Lyle Sugars Europe.
Jenkins, who has been a nominee for the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year award, says she is delighted to be closely involved in the trade association's work.
She adds: "I'm keen to raise awareness of the industry to those outside of it and to support the FTA with the key campaigns that they are running " • Lane Group has placed an order with Congleton-based manufacturer Boalloy for a batch of 12 new Tautliner 4.5m trailers to join its 320-strong UK trailer fleet.
This follows last year's Lane Group order for 30 box-bodied 7.5-tonners from the Boalloy Fastruck programme.
