ABERDEEN-BASED haulage firm Sandy Bruce Trucking closed its Hull depot on Friday 30 June.
A company spokesman explains that the depot has been making a loss for some time and this can no longer be sustained.
It was initially set up to service a client with a factory in Aberdeen whose product was then transported down to Hull. However, director Sandy Bruce says that when the client opened a factory in Grimsby it became difficult to balance workflows.
Bruce adds: "The work just dried up. We kept [the depot] going for the past six to eight months but things were just not improving.
"Naturally we're deeply disappointed at the whole thing but it's got to be done," he adds.
Fourteen staff worked from the depot including 12 drivers; most are believed to have found new jobs.
