SAT-NAV MAY be to blame for increasing instances of dangerous driving as drivers key in postcodes or watch screens rather than the road while driving— but to blame it for getting wedged is a hit unfair (CM 22 June), True, sat-nay may not identify the road as having a 7.5-tonne limit. but I've yet to come across a 7.5-tonne limit that wasn't clearly signed. Maps don't show weight limits, and most don't show bridge heights (indeed none showed bridge heights until a few years ago), but how often was the atlas
blamed for drivers being where they shouldn't be?
Sat-nay isn't to blame. but the driver who chooses to ignore road signs. Maybe all sat-nay systems should be programmed so that the screen or keyboard can only be activated when the ignition is off.
