FOLLOWING extensive field trials of the new DAF eightwheeler model, a raised air intake of special design is being fitted to all DAF tipper models. The modification is designed to reduce contamination of the oil-bath air cleaner under the worst possible site conditions. On all tipper models—including the eight-wheeler, which has now entered production— the air intake is located 2m (7ft) above ground level. Moisture recovered from the air stream is collected in a semi transparent container which can be removed and emptied.
