ANUMBER of specialized mobile workshops
intended for field work" in Turkey have just been completed by Reynolds Boughton Engineering Services Ltd., of Amersham Common, Amersham, Bucks, on behalf of the Ford Motor Co. Ltd., who are supplying them to the Turkish government.
Based on Thames Trader 7-ton chassis, the workshop bodies are of all-welded steel construction, employing 12-gauge welded box-section framing. An extendible steel channel is fitted beneath the roof to facilitate the loading of equipment for overhaul inside the vehicle. As the photograph on the right shows, the complete body sides above the waist rail can be opened—a great advantage in a hot climate.
Equipment includes a 12.5 kW capacity a.c. generator mounted transversely across the front of the body, and driven by an air-cooled diesel engine; a 5-in. centre lathe; a standard bench grinder; portable blacksmith's forge; an electric welding set; valve refacer: valve seat grinder; 15-ton hydrau:ic jack; and an air compressor.
