• Maple Commercial Vehicle Security and Encrypta Electronics have jointly developed the Cryptalok, a heavyduty slam lock.
The system boasts more than 100 million key profiles that are impossible to duplicate, says Hella, and each is individually registered to its user. Adapted from Maple's Loadlocker, the new device ensures that a random seal number is automatically generated every time the unit is sealed. This is recorded, together with the past 50 sealing operations, including details about time and date of openings.
The information can also be quickly downloaded, via an infra-red link, to a handheld computer. The maker says a significant advantage of the system is that,
because the electronics detect lock opening and record the relevant details, it is possible to reduce the need for tight key control to the point where all locks on vehicles operated by a particular company may be keyed alike for ease of use.
