A TRUCK DRIVER had a lucky escape when youths hurled a brick through his open window in Leicestershire. The incident happened at around 8.30pm on 13 April on the A511, Stephensons Road in Coalville. Steve Curley from Perry Barr, Birmingham,was en route from Coalville to Ashby when the rock hit him in the face, splitting his lip. He managed to keep control of his truck before pulling up further down the road.
Curley says: "I thought for a minute that I had lost my teeth. It all happened so quickly. It could have been a lot worse — if they had taken my eye out and I was unable to control the vehicle there would have been a very nasty accident.
The people who do this are brainless yobs." Leicestershire police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or who has been the victim of a similar incident to come forward immediately.
This incident comes just two weeks after 20-year-old Craig Harman was jailed for six years for throwing a brick from a motorway bridge, smashing a truck's windscreen and killing its driver. Michael Little, of Hornchurch, had a fatal heart attack after the brick smashed into his chest on the M3 at Camberley, Surrey during the early hours of 21 March 2003 ( CM 22 April).
