and with some 3,500 exhibitors, the Bauma construction show in Munich dwarfs any similar trade show in Europe. That doesn't mean much, though, if an Icelandic volcano shuts down Europe's air transport system for the first four days of the show The maze of stands was rather less crowded than normal on the opening days, attendance was down 50% on the first day for instance, hut the numbers soon crept up.
Among the massive earthmoving equipment and the like, trucks for the construction sector are a key aspect of the show, with a number of leading manufacturers revealing significant new products. Sadly. CM's schedules and a lack of flights meant we had to cancel attending in person, so welcome to our first virtual show report compiled from sunny Sutton with help from some friends on the ground. •
