A LORRY BAN cue to be introduced in the West Sussex town of Petworth has been delayed because the signs and barriers have yet to be installed.
While there is already a lorry diversion route in place directing trucks away from the town's narrow streets, satellite navigation systems direct lorries through the centre.
Last year, the idea of barriers preventing vehicles that are wider than 2m entering the town was raised (Sussex town considers anti-truck barriers', CM 12 April).
The local authority held a consultation process and hoped to have the system up and running by October.
However, a spokesman for West Sussex County Council confirms the lorry ban has been delayed. We hope to introduce it early next year," he adds.
