King Trailers is keeping itself busy with some new products, both high and low-tech. in association with Darlington-based MechTool Engineering it has recently completed three telecommunications disasterrecovery trailers, Mounted on sophisticated anti-vibration triaxle chassis, the trailers carry delicate fibre-optic telecoms equipment on standby to replace static stations throughout Europe. Equipment including 80kV generators, 1,000-litre water tanks and fully equipped kitchens and toilets ensure that the trailers, worth a total of £250,000, are completely self-sufficient.
• And for something more down to earth: a pair of tandem-axled hooldift container trailers for Canute Haulage can be loaded from either end. The trailers are operated out of Canute's depots at Magor and Worksop on a waste disposal contract for the chain of Wilkinson stores; they have greatly increased the flexibility of the Scania 6x4-powered outfits.
