Tony Fletcher, IRTE secretary from 1963-65, has died, aged M. Among the IRTE's achievements during his tenure were codes of practice covering artic interchange, spray suppression and wheel fixings, as well as the introduction of the vehicle display that evolved into the IRTE Show and into today's CV Show.
DUTCH ROUTE
Geest North Sea Line is launching a container service between Teesport (Middlesbrough) and Rotterdam. It will initially sail three times a week but will go daily within months.

Truck driver Andrew Francis from Leamington Spa has been jailed forth months after he admitted causing death by dangerous driving. Francis' vehicle had smashed into the back of a van, killing two sisters.
