TURNERS (SOHAM) has snapped up Essex container haulier Walker Transport Services, only two years after buying Dart Distribution.
A statement on Turners (Soham)’s website describes the deal as “a further step in Turners’ strategy to develop its container division into a national provider of road and rail services to shipping lines, freight forwarders and shippers”.
Walker Transport Services holds an O-licence for 25 vehicles and 40 trailers at its Europa Trading Estate, Grays, Essex depot.
Turners bought Dart Distribution in April 2010, adding 70 vehicles to its dedicated container fleet of 40. It has container depots in Felixstowe, Manchester, Thamesport, Southampton, Tilbury and Tamworth.
It also carries containers for shipping lines including German Hapag Lloyd, American APL, Evergreen and DFDS.
