• The Retail Motor Industry Federation has welcomed the Government's assurance that an announcement will be made "shortly" on the future of the 1 August registration plate changes.
It wants a twice-yearly plate change every March and September and has put forward a joint proposal with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association.
