Recently in Commercial Motor Ireland the then Minister with the responsibility for road freight transport, Alan Dukes, was quoted as saying smaller operators were more likely to be law-breakers.
Has Alan Dukes heard of liberalisation in the road freight transport industry? Is he saying that licences should never have been issued to small operators and that if still in power he might revoke them or refuse renewal on expiry? Does he want us back pre-1986 when small hauliers had to rent "cover" off their bigger brothers?
