0 potted at a recent show in Putney, South London, was Bedfordshire haulier Doug Williamson with some of his collection of venerable vehicles, including this 1925 Foden C-type tractor which in its day was employed in agricultural work in Northumbria. Doug has owned the old warhorse for three -years, having found it at auction in Berkshire.
He runs a small haulage operation shifting sand from quarries in and around Leighton Buzzard and has a taste for old, but well maintained. vehicles which extends to a working fleet of four: two Leyland Clydesdales, a Freighter and a 1981 Foden 38-tonner flatbed The most recent vehicle was registered in 1983. Like good wine, and the Hawk, some things thrive with age.
