• P&O drivers working un Shell's fuel distribution contract are expected to reject a new pay deal this week.
It is understood that the drivers, all members of the Transport & General Workers Union, were advised to reject the deal by the union's National Joint Negotiation Committee.
Ron Webb, T&,G national officer for road transport, confirms that the committee has rejected the latest offer, which is said by the union to be worth about 2.5%.
"The T&G believes there Is a very determined attitude by its transport membership throughout the oil tanker industry to improve their terms and conditions of employment."
Webb refuses to rule out the possibility of industrial action if the offer is not improved.
A spokeswoman for P&O says the company has not yet been officially flared by the union that its latest pay offer has been rejected.
