• The Ministry of Transport is ready-'in so far as resources permit"—to help bus undertakings carry out research into such studies as the effects of the working of singledecker buses in heavily populated suburban areas, Mr. Bob Brown, Parliamentary Secretary, told the Commons this week. The Department was anxious to encourage further research. Mr. William Malloy (Labour, North Ealing) had earlier welcomed the introduction of singledecker buses in London but warned that much of the advantage had been frustrated because of the large size of these vehicles. He wanted those concerned to look into the proposal to introduce a smaller and nippier single-decker bus.
