Their meeting followed a one-day strike of London bus crew's (CM. last week) over the killing of a South London conductor a fortnight ago.
Mr Jenkins said that policemen would in future be able to travel free on buses whether on or off duty. He was studying the possibility of giving police powers of arrest for breaches of the psv regulations. Mr Jenkins pledged his support for urgent measures to combat hooliganism at a meeting attended by Mr Jones, Kenneth Robinson, chair man of London Transport, Fred Mulley, Minister for Transport and union men.
A union spokesman said after the meeting that he was pleased with the outcome. He felt that Government and management .realised how serious the situation was.
