Looks at HGV ban
UP TO 160 SURREY roads are facing an HGV ban, following residents' complaints about the number of lorries affecting the quality of roads and the environment.
Campaign group Lorries Off Rural Detours (LORD), which represents 46 parish councils, has submitted to Surrey County Council (SCC) a list of 160 roads that it considers are unsuitable for trucks.
-Surrey's economy needs to stay healthy, but we have to balance that against any unnecessary discomfort to residents and wear-and-tear on the road," says Ian Lake, SCC's cabinet minister for transport.
A council spokeswoman tells CM that any potential HGV restrictions "will not happen overnight".
