An extraordinary racketeering lawsuit against the Teamsters Union (the USA's largest, with 1.6 million members) has been brought by the US Government in an attempt to oust the present leadership which, says the Government, is dedicated to the betterment and enlargement of Mafiosi wallets throughout America.
Named as defendants are 17 top union officials, including president "Fat Boy" Jackie Presser.

BP has come up with an idea, however, which will come as welcome relief to truckers suffering from giftvoucher fatigue. The BP Lifestyle Truckstore Collection works on the same voucher principle but, says BP, offers almost anything money can buy.
Drivers receive one voucher for every 50 litres of diesel. BP man Dick Constable says: "There is a catalogue of gifts which the drivers can obtain by saving up the appropriate number of vouchers. But the choice isn't limited to just these items. Drivers can name their own gift as long as it has a retail value of 275."
This means that drivers can pool their vouchers, which are valid until 31 December 1989.
