CONVICTIONS FOR drivers' hours offences have cost a Flintshire driver £1 300 in fines and costs.
Alister John Wright of Bagiltt, Flintshire, pleaded guilty before the Harlow magistrates to one offence of exceeding the daily driving limit and three of exceeding 41/2 hours' driving without taking the required breaks. Anthony Ostrin, prosecuting on behalf of VOSA, explained to the magistrates that Wright's vehicle 0' had been the subject of a planned roadside check.
An examination of the charts produced by Wright revealed that on one occasion he had driven for a total of five hours and eight minutes without taking the statutory 45-minute break; on a second for four hours and 40 minutes; and on a third for five hours and eight minutes.
Additionally, analysis of the third chart revealed that the overall driving period recorded was 10 hours 16 minutes.
Wright was fined 1.200 on each offence and ordered to pay 1500 costs.
